Revenue Accounting Manager

SUMMARY:
Drive Revenue Integrity, Pricing Strategy and Commercial Insight in Aviation. A leading organisation within the aviation sector is seeking an experienced Manager: Revenue Accounting to take ownership of pricing accuracy, revenue reconciliation, forecasting, and revenue optimisation in a complex, high-volume environment.

POSITION INFO:
This role sits at the intersection of Finance, Commercial, Digital, and Operations, offering the opportunity to influence the pricing strategy, product development, and channel performance through data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities:

• Revenue, Pricing & Reconciliations:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor accurate pricing calculations aligned with the commercial strategy
  • Ensure that booking system records reconcile to payments received and that rates are correctly applied
  • Reconcile all payment methods monthly for current and future bookings
  • Manage partner invoicing processes in accordance with contractual terms
  • Validate the correct application of taxes and perform VAT reconciliations on ticket sales
• Systems & Process Optimisation:
  • Optimise integration between ticketing/reservation systems and financial systems to ensure data integrity
  • Provide early visibility of system or commercial changes impacting revenue recognition or forecasting
  • Participate in projects aimed at improving revenue processes, systems, and automation
• Commercial & Revenue Insight:
  • Analyse pricing, revenue, and customer data to identify growth opportunities and areas of underperformance
  • Provide strategic insights on pricing performance, market trends, and revenue optimisation opportunities
  • Influence product development, channel distribution, and customer segmentation decisions
  • Work closely with Digital and eCommerce teams to manage online pricing and inventory
• Forecasting & Performance Management:
  • Produce demand forecasts, revenue budgets, and long-range projections
  • Align forecasting models with financial targets, commercial campaigns, and operational capacity
  • Develop scenario planning models under varying market conditions
  • Design and support KPIs for revenue optimisation (e.g. RASK, load factor, yield, and RevPAR)
• Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the revenue accounting team
  • Drive accountability, performance, and continuous improvement
  • Build strong working relationships across Finance, Sales, Operations, IT, and external partners
  • Facilitate effective cross-functional communication
• Audit, Governance & Compliance:
  • Support internal and external audits through accurate documentation and reconciliation trails
  • Address audit queries, implement corrective actions, and maintain audit readiness
  • Ensure compliance with tax legislation, pricing governance policies, contractual agreements, and aviation regulations

• Grade 12 or equivalent (essential)
• BCom Degree in Finance or Accounting (essential)
• BCom Honours in Finance or Accounting (essential)
• CA(SA) – Chartered Accountant, South Africa (essential)
• Minimum 5 years finance experience, including 2 years in a supervisory or management role
• Proven experience in revenue management (essential)
• Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
• Aviation experience (advantageous)
• Knowledge of automated financial and accounting systems
• Strong understanding of pricing strategy, data analysis, and revenue recognition
• Exposure to Sage X3 and reservation systems (advantageous)
• Willingness to work extended hours when required
