Roads Design Engineer: Road and Highways Services: Cape Town

The client’s Roads and Highways Services Delivery Unit provides a comprehensive range of services that include traditional consulting services (design, procurement, and contract supervision), Public Private Partnership (PPP) solutions and asset management services. This includes high-capacity freeways, interchanges and bridges, airport pavements, rural roads (including low volume and haul roads) and municipal infrastructure. The team is supported by transportation and traffic engineers, geotechnical and material engineers, and other specialists.

This Delivery Unit is looking for a talented professional to complement their team, in the form of a Roads Design Engineer. We welcome your application if you meet the requirements, listed below, for this position.

Key Performance Areas:

Design of roads and road pavement projects

Compilation, or assist in the compilation of pavement design reports

Compilation, or assist in the compilation of technical pavement specifications and BoQ’s for project documents.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications: BEng or BTech

Professional registration with ECSA - PR Eng/PrTech Eng

Competent with Civil Designer, Civil3D and AutoCAD would be advantageous

Competent with Rubicon, cncPave and/or similar pavement design packages

Experience:

5 or more years with specific Roads Design experience is a pre-requisite

Pavement Design Experience

Experience with COLTO, COTO and general conditions of contract would be advantageous

Person Requirements:

Can work independently and manage technical deliverables on components of roads projects

Good communication skills and professionally undertake presentations to colleagues, clients, and stakeholders

Develop solutions to problems/challenges in the most optimal and cost-effective manner

Generate creative solutions to work situations; trying different and novel ways to deal with organizational problems and opportunities

Be aware of the various technologies available and to provide appropriate and best practice solutions as well as represent the Client in the industry

Responsible and self-motivated

Ability to work remotely

A team player who can be part of a team of Engineers and Technicians to produce technical deliverables of the right quality to meet the scope in the time and budget allocated
