POSITION INFO:
S2 BU Lead - Networks, Security & Escalations Location: Somerset West, Western Cape Work Arrangement: Hybrid An exciting leadership opportunity is available for an experienced S2 BU Lead to take ownership of networks, security, complex technical escalations and the performance of an S2 engineering function. This is a senior technical leadership position requiring a combination of strong networking and security expertise, people leadership, incident management and operational discipline. Key Responsibilities Own and manage the S1-to-S2 escalation process. Lead the resolution of complex and high-priority technical incidents. Establish clear escalation standards, priorities and ownership. Drive preventative solutions to reduce recurring incidents. Own network standards covering switching, routing, Wi-Fi and firewall environments. Ensure network documentation and diagrams are accurate and maintained. Improve network stability and performance through proactive maintenance. Maintain and improve baseline security controls. Oversee patching, vulnerability remediation and security standards. Lead security incident response where required. Maintain security runbooks and improvement plans. Establish effective monitoring and incident-response processes. Track and improve incident response and resolution performance. Oversee technical projects, scopes, BOMs and handovers. Work closely with S3 where cloud, automation and infrastructure projects overlap. Lead, coach and develop S2 engineers. Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews and skills-development planning. Develop and enforce technical SOPs and documentation standards. Contribute to recruitment and interviewing. Support clean commercial and project handovers. Requirements Strong experience in network engineering and infrastructure. Strong knowledge of network security and firewalls. Proven experience handling complex technical escalations and incidents. Experience leading or managing technical engineers. Strong understanding of security controls, vulnerabilities and remediation. Experience with incident response and root-cause analysis. Strong documentation and SOP discipline. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability. Strong client-facing communication skills. Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure. Experience in a managed services or client-facing technology environment would be advantageous. Relevant networking\/security certifications would be advantageous. Ideal Candidate We are looking for a technically strong leader who can move beyond simply solving problems and build a high-performing, structured and preventative technical function. You should be equally comfortable discussing a complex network\/security issue with an engineer, managing a client escalation and developing the standards and processes that prevent the same issue from happening again.
