ENVIRONMENT: FILL a dual-focused role as a SQL DBA & Infrastructure Engineer wanted by a growing provider of cutting-edge Custom Cloud Solutions where you will bridge the gap between day-to-day database administration and core infrastructure support. You will act as the crucial Level 2 bridge within the team, handling routine to intermediate SQL Server DBA tasks, while stepping over to assist with general IT infrastructure, backups, and user management when database duties are complete. Roughly 50% of your time will be dedicated to core SQL DBA duties, with the remaining 50% supporting broader infrastructure, systems administration, and cloud environments. The ideal candidate must have solid foundational-to-intermediate experience as a SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with proven experience with SQL Server maintenance plans, backups, restores, and database relocations & performance monitoring and query troubleshooting. You will also need hands-on experience configuring and managing backup solutions (specifically Veeam and\/or Commvault) and have working knowledge of Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID. DUTIES: SQL Database Administration (~50%) - · Routine Maintenance: Design, implement, and monitor database maintenance plans (index rebuilds, integrity checks, and statistics updates). · Database Operations: Handle database restores, migrations, and database moves efficiently and securely. · Performance Tuning: Troubleshoot and resolve basic-to-moderate performance bottlenecks, slow-running queries, and resource constraints. · Escalation Management: Serve as the internal Level 2 DBA Owner, resolving day-to-day issues locally and only escalating genuinely complex, high-level structural problems to third-line specialized contractors. Infrastructure & Systems Support (~50%) - · Backup Management: Monitor, test, and manage enterprise backup environments utilizing solutions such as Veeam and Commvault. · Identity & Access Management: Administer user provisioning, group policies, and permissions within Active Directory (AD) and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD). · General IT Operations: Provide responsive support for general infrastructure tickets, system health checks, and server environment troubleshooting. REQUIREMENTS: · Core Experience: Solid foundational-to-intermediate experience as a SQL Database Administrator (DBA) combined with hands-on systems\/infrastructure administration background. · SQL Skills: Ø Proven experience with SQL Server maintenance plans, backups, restores, and database relocations. Ø Practical capability in performance monitoring and query troubleshooting (expert-level DBA optimization is not required; practical, operational competence is the priority). · Infrastructure & Tooling Skills: Ø Hands-on experience configuring and managing backup solutions (specifically Veeam and\/or Commvault). Ø Working knowledge of Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (user lifecycles, group assignments, permissions). · Soft Skills & Work Ethic: Highly organized, capable of context-switching between database workloads and infrastructure tasks, and comfortable working autonomously in a fully remote setup.
