SYSTEMS SALES SPECIALIST – POWER SYSTEMS

POSITION INFO:

THE OPPORTUNITY Our client is seeking an experienced Systems Sales Specialist - Power Systems to manage and develop strategic accounts and opportunities across Southern Africa. This is a segment-agnostic technical sales and business development role , focused on driving profitable growth across diverse customer ecosystems and market verticals. The successful candidate will play a key role in early project engagement, technical specification and solution influence , with particular emphasis on Medium Voltage primary and secondary distribution products and systems . Working across End Users, Panel Builders, Contractors, EPCs, Consultants and other stakeholders, you will identify opportunities, build strong customer relationships and leverage digital and connected solutions to increase project conversion and market growth. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Customer Engagement & Ecosystem Development Build strategic relationships with key stakeholders across customer organisations, including engineering, procurement, operations and executive leadership. Map customer ecosystems and influence channels to identify consultants, contractors, EPCs, panel builders and other decision-makers. Develop a strong understanding of customer requirements, investment plans and operating models. Sales Leadership & Collaboration Lead and coordinate sales teams across multiple business units to ensure a consistent customer engagement strategy. Represent the customer internally and align the organisation's value proposition with customer requirements and market trends. Collaborate with Key Account Managers, Segment Leads and technical teams to execute growth strategies. Commercial Strategy & Opportunity Management Develop and implement commercial strategies to grow the Power Systems business across Southern Africa. Lead account planning and commercial action planning with internal stakeholders. Own and manage strategic opportunities through the company's CRM and business forecasting systems. Develop structured action plans for priority opportunities to maximise conversion. Maintain accurate sales activity, pipeline and forecast information. Market Intelligence & Competitive Positioning Monitor market trends, customer budgets, investment programmes and competitor activity. Identify opportunities for market growth and improved customer value propositions. Provide market feedback to marketing, product and offer development teams. Project Engagement & Technical Prescription Identify strategic projects at an early stage and engage with stakeholders to influence specifications and solution architecture. Promote the adoption of integrated digital and connected solutions within Power Systems projects. Provide technical and application support to End Users, Panel Builders, Contractors and EPCs. Collaborate with tendering and execution teams to develop competitive and technically appropriate solutions. Pipeline Generation & Growth Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities. Build and maintain a healthy pipeline across Southern Africa. Drive adoption of Medium Voltage primary distribution equipment and systems . Support strategic initiatives aimed at accelerating growth of the systems business. Channel Enablement Develop relationships with channel partners and technical influencers. Deliver technical presentations, workshops and training where required. Support partners in understanding and effectively positioning relevant Power Systems solutions. Customer Satisfaction & Governance Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through proactive engagement and issue resolution. Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, internal governance requirements and company policies. Operate according to high standards of business ethics and professional conduct. KEY SKILLS & TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES The successful candidate will demonstrate: Strong technical expertise in Medium Voltage distribution systems and applications . Solid technical and commercial understanding of electrical power systems and system solutions . Experience in technical sales, solution selling or business development. Strong pipeline management and strategic opportunity planning capabilities. Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills. Strong commercial awareness and business acumen. Ability to understand complex customer environments and influence technical specifications. Knowledge of LV and MV electrical equipment and systems . Understanding of digital, connected and integrated energy solutions. A strong sustainability mindset, including awareness of SF₆-free MV technologies . Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple functions, business units and countries. Willingness to travel extensively across Southern Africa. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline. An MBA or postgraduate business qualification would be advantageous. 10+ years' experience in technical sales, solution sales, business development or a related commercial engineering environment. Experience within energy, electrical engineering, industrial, mining, engineering & construction, manufacturing or related sectors would be advantageous. Demonstrated experience managing complex accounts and commercial opportunities involving hardware, software and\/or digital solutions. Strong understanding of procurement and operating models across both public and private-sector environments in Southern Africa. Established understanding of regional customer ecosystems, including consultants, EPCs, contractors, panel builders and End Users . Strong knowledge of Low Voltage and Medium Voltage equipment . Experience using CRM and sales forecasting systems. Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management abilities. WHAT'S ON OFFER?
