Safety Officer – Marine Projects (12-Month Contract)
Location: Simonstown Dockyard
Contract Duration: 1 Year (Mobilization: September 2025)
Security Clearance: Ability to obtain Secret-level Security Clearance required

We are recruiting an experienced Safety Officer to join a dynamic team on a major marine contract. This role requires a proactive individual with strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, hazard identification, and compliance standards, especially in high-risk and regulated environments such as dockyards and confined spaces.

Minimum Requirements:

• Relevant SHE qualification – OHS Practitioner (NQF Level 5)
• Registered with SACPCMP (CHSO) – registration preferred
• Minimum of 5 years’ practical experience in a safety officer role
• Fit for Duty – valid full medical certification
• Security Clearance eligibility – Secret level
• Accredited training in the following:
• HIRA, RCAT
• Confined Space Entry
• Fall Protection Planner & Fall Rescue
• First Aid Level 2, Basic Firefighting
• Hazardous Chemical Agents (HCA)
• ISO 45001 / ISO 14001
• OHS Act, Legal Liability, COID Act
• Incident Investigation
• Computer literacy and basic office administration

• Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and under heat stress conditions
• Strong communication and reporting skills
• Knowledge of risk assessments and safe working procedures
• Collaborative team player with a proactive safety-first approach
