Sales Support Engineer (Electronic/Electrical)

About the position:

Oversee and manage all technical matters for our client through collaboration with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders - to ultimately ensure the consistent delivery of quality products, on time and on budget. Provide support to our client’s Technical team. Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to enhance customer service, increase sales and efficiency - in support of revenue growth and profitability.

Responsibilities:

• Reports to and acts under the direction of the Quoting Manager. Accepts functional direction from the Technical Specialist. All other decisions must be in accordance with our client and their sister company’s policies and procedures, and those of their customers and suppliers
• Oversee and manage all technical matters for our client through collaboration with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders - to ultimately ensure the consistent delivery of quality products, on time and on budget:
  • Interact with customers in order to troubleshoot and resolve technical queries
  • Assist customers with product design and the establishment of technical specifications
  • Prepare technical presentations for customers
  • Serves as technical and quality liaison for suppliers’ queries
  • Provide technical sales support
  • Attend customer meetings, as required
  • Participate in tender processes
  • Research and source technical data for marketing and promotional purposes
  • Manage the mechanical parts, including metal pressed parts, screws, busbars silicon rubber keypads, and LCD (liquid crystal display)
• Provide support to our client’s Technical team:
  • Assist the CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) Engineering function, as required
  • Action Engineering Queries (EQ’s) during peak times
  • Assist with troubleshooting, resolution of technical queries, product design and technical specifications
  • Provide technical sales support, participate in tender processes and attend customer meetings, as required
• Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to enhance customer service, increase sales and efficiency, in support of revenue growth and profitability:
  • Identify efficiencies and cost savings in work processes
  • Responsive to all business contacts
  • Participate in business improvement initiatives and projects

Qualifications and Experience required:

• Electronics/Electrical Engineering qualification
• At least 3 years related experience
• Good communication and customer relations skills
• Competent in Afrikaans
• Own reliable transport - as you will be visiting customers
• Quantifiable experience in a similar role in the electronics industry
• Knowledge or experience in the design and/or manufacturing of PC Boards is preferable
• Demonstrated commercial acumen
• Good understanding of CAM software
• Working knowledge of the ISO9001 Quality Management System
• Knowledge of/experience in factory operations would be advantageous
• Proven customer service skills
• Good prioritizing and time management ability
• Strong administrative and organisation skills
• Good written and spoken skills in English
• High degree of professionalism
• Competent in the use of Microsoft Office products
