Senior Actuarial Specialist

Cape Town

The Retail Protection Team is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of new and existing retail protection propositions across the lower and middle-to-high income markets in South Africa. Development support is also provided to African businesses.

Responsible for representing the requirements and interests of the Retail Protection Team in the area of sales remuneration. Involvement in product development projects (where sales remuneration is impacted) will also be required as part of this role.

The role will work very closely with the relevant product owners, pricing, marketing and distribution representatives. Interaction with a wide variety of stakeholders – including senior management, finance, administration, IT, legal and compliance.

Play a leading role in determining and reviewing the product rules for sales remuneration within the retail protection team

Produce product specification documents and review relevant documents related to sales remuneration

Designing tools to check the application of sales remuneration (product specific) calculations

Understand the regulatory environment, and incorporate changes to the relevant product rules

Provide general product support

Manage stakeholders expectations

Drive process efficiencies and innovation

Senior Actuarial student with at least 3 years of actuarial experience

Strong technical actuarial skills

Product development experience would be an added advantage

Business acumen and negotiation skills

Good interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to work independently

Ability to work on a wide range of deliverables at once
