Senior Analyst Developer

SUMMARY:
Our client, a leading financial services institution, is seeking an experienced Mid-Senior Analyst Developer to support a critical payments modernisation and sustainment programme on a 24-month contract. The successful candidate will work on high-availability payments platforms within a highly regulated environment, with a strong focus on Java, C#, Angular, Spring Boot, IBM MQ, REST APIs, microservices, XML/XSD/XSL, Unix/Linux, GitLab or CI tools and Application Performance Monitoring.

POSITION INFO:

Requirements

• A Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification.
• At least eight years’ working experience as a Senior Developer or technical resource in a project and support environment.
• Strong experience translating business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
• Experience contributing to solution design, system architecture, application development, testing and production support.
• The ability to work within governance, change control and release management processes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills.
• Experience working in a business-as-usual support environment, including incident, problem and change management processes.

Technical Requirements

• Strong technical experience with Java and C# in an enterprise project or support environment.
• Exposure to GitLab or other CI tools.
• Experience building and maintaining Angular applications.
• Experience with Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools to monitor response times, throughput, resource utilisation and application performance.
• Experience troubleshooting networking, storage and application deployment issues in Unix and Linux operating systems.
• Exposure to the design, deployment and management of microservices and REST APIs.
• Experience with JDBC, JPA, Spring Boot and JMS, including IBM MQ.
• Experience working with XSD, XSL and XML.
• Experience in Java EE or Jakarta EE.

Advantageous Experience

• Experience in payment systems, including domestic and cross-border payments.
• Exposure to ISO 15022 and ISO 20022 messaging standards.
• Experience working within a financial services, banking, national payments or regulated technology environment.

Key Deliverables

• Developing, testing, maintaining and supporting national payments solutions, including IBM MQ integration and related web applications.
• Supporting the optimisation and sustainment of current platforms.
• Delivering high-quality, relevant IT solutions using Java and related technologies, while avoiding unnecessary complexity and customisation.
• Producing detailed designs, functional specifications and technical specifications in support of approved business requirements.
• Building application components in line with approved designs, configuration standards and implementation requirements.
• Participating in business requirements specification sessions and providing technical input into suitable solutions for national payments.
• Conducting impact analysis for system changes, enhancements and defect fixes.
• Supporting system, integration and user acceptance testing, including defect resolution, test planning, test data preparation and test execution where required.
• Creating and updating system architecture documentation, operating manuals, technical documentation, deployment documents, release notes and change request documentation.
• Adhering to the organisation’s change control, governance and release management processes.
• Ensuring timely delivery of quality IT solutions according to business requirement specifications.
• Conducting analysis, design and architecture activities in line with approved requirements and governance frameworks.
• Supporting the maintenance and improvement of development standards, processes and solution quality.
• Providing second- and third-line application support to ensure business continuity in line with agreed service standards.
• Performing operational activities aligned to service management best practices, including morning checks, monitoring service management tools and supporting incident reporting.
• Supporting the maintenance of agreed SLAs, with a target service level of 98%.
• Performing server and application maintenance, including monthly patches, security updates, application upgrades and technology upgrades.
• Actively participating as a team member and supporting the team in achieving project, operational and service delivery goals.
• Performing any other related duties required to deliver the agreed services.
