SUMMARY:
Our client, a well-established professional services firm based in Cape Town CBD, is seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within a legal or professional services environment, with strong bookkeeping and financial accounting knowledge. Trust and Business Account experience is essential, along with proficiency in AJS, Microsoft Excel and MS Office. A Matric qualification and Certificate/Diploma in Bookkeeping or Financial Accounting are required.

Certificate or Diploma in Bookkeeping or Financial Accounting is essential. 2-3 years' experience in a similar role, preferably within a legal or professional services environment. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and MS Office. Proficient in financial accounting packages, specifically AJS. Proven experience working with both Trust and Business Accounts is essential. Strong understanding of bookkeeping and financial accounting principles. DUTIES: Preparing EFT payments and transfers between accounts and loading them onto the system for approval. Reconciling bank statements. Managing daily cash flow. Reconciling petty cash and maintaining accurate petty cash records. Processing daily banking. Printing receipts and preparing relevant documentation. Performing General Ledger accounting up to Trial Balance. Managing the Debtors and Creditors functions. Capturing Investec bank interest. Capturing Sheriff's return-of-service transactions. Capturing drivers' travel claims. Filing AJS postings, audit trails, and returned cheques. Liaising with ABSA regarding banking queries relating to directors. Assisting the Financial Bookkeeper with SARS e-Filing for PAYE, UIF, SDL, and VAT returns. Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register. Filing and date-stamping all purchases, receipts, and accounting-related correspondence. Assisting the Financial Bookkeeper with the preparation of designated schedules. Assisting auditors with queries and providing the necessary supporting documentation. Opening files on Uniflow. Preparing and submitting annual EEA reporting. Performing ad hoc accounting and administrative duties as required.
