SUMMARY:
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer vacancy in Durbanville, Cape Town.  Minimum 7 years of design experience. Product development from the component level to complete systems. Product development expertise includes medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles for applications such as delivery, bus, motorhome, off-highway, refuse, and several other specialized and vocational vehicle markets.

Product Development. Details designs from first principles, as well as improvements on existing Product ranges
 
Qualification and Key Skills Required:

• B Eng/BSc in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 7 years of design experience
• Ability to plan and execute project plans
• Ability to guide and mentor other engineers
• Innovative and self-driven
• Hands-on approach to problem solving
• Readily able to adjust to changing priorities
• Objective-oriented, setting goals and meeting deadlines

• 3D CAD models, designs, and presentations to clients.
• Preparation of manufacturing and supplier part drawings 
• Conduct concept and design reviews
• Manage and support the day-to-day design activities
• Provide creative and technically feasible solutions for cost savings, service issues, and product improvements.
• Interface with materials and purchasing on new part design and sourcing.
• Interface with Analysis, Test, and Manufacturing Engineering to determine the most effective and economical use of materials and manufacturing processes.
• Interface with the Product Regulation and Compliance staff to design products that meet government regulations, restrictions, and codes.
