About the client:

Established in 2019, our client is an independently owned, boutique investment manager, based in Johannesburg. They are deeply committed to delivering superior returns through their rigorous bottom-up valuation methodology which provides deep understanding of every company they invest in. Our client currently manages R40bn of predominantly institutional client money.

The Senior Equity Analyst will conduct fundamental equity research and generate investment ideas to support portfolio managers within an active asset management environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth fundamental research on listed equities
• Build and maintain advanced financial models and valuations
• Generate differentiated investment ideas and actionable recommendations
• Monitor portfolio holdings and update investment theses
• Analyse company results, industry trends, and relevant macro developments
• Engage with company management, sell-side analysts, and industry participants

Key Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• CFA Level IIII completed
• 5 - 7 years’ experience in equity research
• Strong idea generation capability with a clear investment mindset
• Advanced financial modelling and valuation skills
• Solid understanding of financial statements and accounting
• Ability to clearly articulate and defend an investment view
