Senior Finance Manager

Our client, JSE-listed industry leader based in the heart of Cape Town, is seeking a Senior Finance Manager to join their high-performance finance team. This exciting opportunity is ideal for a qualified Chartered Accountant with 5–8 years of post-article experience, ideally gained in retail, manufacturing, or FMCG sectors. The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, a proven track record in a fast-paced commercial environment, and a results-oriented mindset.
Candidates must have completed articles at a Big 4 firm and possess listed company experience—this is non-negotiable.

POSITION INFO:

As the Senior Finance Manager, your duties and responsibilities include the following:
Lead all technical accounting matters
Implement new standards and ensure IFRS compliance
Oversee the preparation and review of Group and subsidiary annual financial statements, including accounting policies, disclosures, and audit facilitation
Maintain the financial reporting control framework for CEO/CFO attestation per JSE Listings requirements
Manage all accounting aspects of the Group’s share schemes, including reconciliations, disclosures, tax-related calculations, and system data integrity
Support funding negotiations, monitor covenant compliance, and report to lenders, board, and investment committees on funding performance and costs
Review all related reconciliations.
Oversee the finance import’s function, ensuring accurate journals, reconciliations, P&L reports, and compliance with FX and VAT/duty requirements
Approve clearing agent invoices and payments
Manage the merchandise AP function, providing oversight on reconciliations and transactional accuracy
Oversee the sundry debtors’ team, ensuring proper reconciliations and reporting on loans, advances, and supplier development fund activity
Support strategic and ad-hoc initiatives aligned with the Group’s long-term goals

Skills & Experience:
10 years of experience in a commercial, fast-paced environment like retail, manufacturing or FMCG
Extensive experience working for a listed company
Experience in credit retail would be highly advantageous
SAICA articles completed at a Big 4 Firm

Qualification:
Registered CA(SA)
