POSITION INFO:
A well-established organisation based in Johannesburg North is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join its finance team. This opportunity offers the chance to take ownership of a key accounting function while overseeing critical reporting responsibilities and mentoring junior finance staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, preparing management accounts, overseeing reconciliations, and supporting month-end and year-end reporting processes. In addition, this role will involve managing and developing two Bookkeepers while contributing to process improvements and enhanced financial controls across the business. Key Responsibilities: Manage and maintain the General Ledger (GL). Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations. Compile and analyse monthly management accounts. Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial records. Oversee, support, and develop two Bookkeepers. Assist with month-end and year-end reporting processes. Utilise ERP systems and accounting software to ensure efficient financial processing. Analyse financial data and provide meaningful reporting insights. Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Support ad-hoc finance projects and process improvement initiatives. Monitor accounting transactions and ensure adherence to reporting deadlines. Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes and reporting efficiencies Job Experience and Skills Required: BCom Accounting qualification. Minimum of 5 years' experience in a financial accounting role. Proven experience preparing management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations. Experience working with ERP systems and accounting software. SAP experience will be advantageous. Forex exposure will be advantageous. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong understanding of financial reporting principles and accounting processes. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple deadlines. Previous experience supervising or mentoring finance team members will be advantageous. Apply now!
