Senior Fixed Interest Dealer

POSITION INFO:

The successful incumbent will play a leading role on the Dealing Desk, monitoring markets, effectively executing deals, and developing and implementing derivative and other strategies to generate additional alpha for the ultimate benefit of the clients invested in the companies’ funds

Skills & Experience:

Key responsibilities of the position

Executing deals (money market, capital market, derivatives, credit assets, forex, foreign bonds)

Researching, developing and implementing derivative strategies for the range of funds under management

Analysing market liquidity to understand the spread and yield curves

Keeping abreast of economic and market developments and data releases to timeously assess the possible impact on various funds

Negotiating and implementing ISDA (International Swaps and Derivatives Agreement) and GMRA (Global Master Repurchase Agreement) arrangements with counter-parties

Maintaining the deal book

Administrating deals completed, including specialised asset administration

Calculating and maintaining yield curves (government, zero coupon, swap curves)

Developing risk monitoring tools for all instruments traded

Monthly client reporting (as part of a team)

Monitoring and managing broker/counter-party relations

Monitoring and analysing the financial market and market view

Monitoring portfolio cash flows

Developing valuation spreadsheets for new instruments

Managing the PA trade process

Knowledge and experience required (Skills, know-how and experience)

Good experience in an asset management environment (including experience in dealing, research and understanding the general principles of Fixed Income Portfolio Management) and/or a banking treasury trading environment

Knowledge of credit and fixed income markets and instruments

Experience in trading derivative instruments and 2-way price-making in debt instruments

Managerial experience in managing people in a dealing environment

Qualification:

A tertiary qualification, with a focus on financial or mathematical subjects

A post-graduate qualification or study towards one would be advantageous (e.g. Honours degree, CFA)
