Senior Accountant: Manufacturing / FMCG

SUMMARY:
Meat Traders / Winelands Pork is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to lead the day-to-day financial function for its Cape Town operation.
This is a hands-on, site-based role for a commercially minded finance professional who is comfortable working independently in a fast-paced operational environment. You will work closely with Head Office Finance and Operations to deliver accurate financial reporting, strengthen financial controls, and provide reliable management information to support business decision-making.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial analyses, tax calculations and reports for management decision-making.
• Manage the VAT function, including reconciliations, calculations, supporting schedules and submissions through SARS eFiling.
• Prepare audit and independent-review files and liaise with external auditors.
• Maintain accurate fixed-asset registers and oversee general ledger processing and reconciliations.
• Ensure sound financial controls, processes and compliance across the Cape Town operation.
• Lead and support the local finance and administration team.
• Partner with operational managers and Head Office Finance to improve reporting accuracy, processes and financial visibility.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum requirements BCom Accounting, Financial Accounting or an equivalent qualification. Completed articles through SAICA, SAIPA or a similar recognised professional body. At least 3-5 years' post-articles experience in an accounting role with broad financial responsibility. Proven experience preparing monthly management accounts, VAT reconciliations and audit support documentation. Sound working knowledge of IFRS and South African VAT requirements. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to meet demanding reporting deadlines. Ability to work independently while effectively leading and supporting a small team. Advantageous experience Experience in manufacturing, FMCG, agriculture, food production, abattoir or meat-processing environments. Experience with Abaserve and\/or Xero. Exposure to stock, cost accounting, production-related reporting or operational finance. What we offer Salary package of R40,000-R50,000 CTC per month , depending on experience.
