JOB SUMMARY:
Our external client in the Logistics sector is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (System Engineer) to support their IT infrastructure. The successful candidate would need to showcase a solid background in ITIL processes, Management of operations on virtualized and distributed infrastructures, Management of operations on environment with clustering, replication and load balancer, Windows Server.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Duties:

Manage operations on a virtualized, distributed infrastructure (provision, configuration, decommissioning, lifecycle, patching),
- Local, Onsite and remote management of 5 IT HUBs across Africa
- Level 1-3 Hardware Support
- Level 1-3 Virtualization, SAN, vSAN Support
Plan and coordinate remote interventions of maintenance providers,
Plan and supervise interventions on duty, Non-Working Hours
Maintain the documentation system, the ITSM tool,
Apply Group standard policies: Respect of SOP, SLA, Reporting, KPI
Capacity Planning, ensure optimal use of internal resources, vCPU, Memory, Storage, IP Planning
Security and risk Aware, Risk Identification and rectification to possible security vulnerabilities
Reaction to identified Security threats on all platforms, physical and virtual
Backup monitoring and quick action to rectify and problems identified, Adherence to Company Backup and BCP DRP strategies.
Failover Simulation between Main DC HUB and DR Site, Non-Working Hours
Continuity of service for Operations (hardware and software infrastructure) on the day-to-day:
- Network: Cabling, Switches, Optimizers, Routers, Firewall, Proxy, SSL VPN gateways, WAN, WiFi systems and others equipment UPS, Air-Con, Genset, IoT
- Systems: Servers (Windows/Linux or iSeries), Data backup means, Business Applications, Communication and collaborative tools

Essential experience, skills and qualifications:

Masterâs degree in information technology or Computer ScienceÂ will be advantageous
Management of operations on virtualized and distributed infrastructures,Â
Management of operations on environment with clustering, replication, load balancerÂ
ITIL Practitioner (V3) / ITIL Specialist (V4)Â
Strong knowledge in Microsoft Active Directory environment is an added advantageÂ
Windows Server: Advanced levelÂ
Knowledge in network/telecom (Cisco certifications appreciated)Â
vCenter or HyperV or Azure: Advanced levelÂ
Knowledge in IBM AS/400 environment would be a âplusâÂ
Network foundation or intermediate,Â
ISO 27000, other IT security Training
Prince2, PMP or equivalence - Advantage

EXPERIENCE

7 to 13 years relevant experience in IT

Minimum 8 yearsâ experience in supporting and maintaining Microsoft Systems and Networks
- Microsoft Server 2016 and 2019
- Microsoft SQL (MSSQL)
- IIS
- Remote Desktop Services
- WSUS
- PowerShell
Minimum 7 yearsâ experience in supporting and maintaining VMWare systems (6.7) or equivalent.

- Clusters / Data Centres

Ability to Manage a Technical Project
Experienced in working within Large Corporate Environments
