SUMMARY:
An exciting opportunity has opened for a Senior Investment Consultant to join a leading institutional investment advisory team based in Johannesburg. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who thrives in both strategic advisory and handsâon investment consulting.

POSITION INFO:
As a key member of the consulting team, you will lead client engagements across pension funds, insurers, and institutional portfolios, while contributing to a cuttingâedge business.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Advisory & Strategy:
- Lead and manage institutional client relationships.
- Develop investment strategies aligned with client objectives.
- Present performance, market updates, and recommendations at Board and Committee meetings.
- Draft and maintain investment policy statements and governance.
Investment Strategy & Research:
- Conduct ALM and strategic asset allocation analysis.
- Perform manager research across asset classes.
- Evaluate portfolio performance using risk, attribution, and benchmarking tools.
- Contribute to macroeconomic and tactical asset allocation.
Implementation & Oversight:
- Coordinate manager transitions, cash flows, and rebalancing.
- Monitor mandate compliance and investment risk.
- Integrate proprietary systems and automation tools into consulting workflows.
- Ensure accurate and timely client reports.
Leadership:
- Mentor junior consultants and analysts.
- Review outputs delivered across the consulting value chain.
- Support RFPs, proposals, and new business opportunities.

Experience & Qualifications:

Honours in Actuarial Science, Investment Management, Finance, Economics, or a related field (CFA/CAIA/AMASSA/TASSA advantageous).
5–10 years in investment consulting or institutional asset management.
Proven experience in asset allocation, manager selection, and advisory.
Advantageous exposure: Actuarial modelling, LDI, investment systems, or ESG.

Technical Skills:

Advanced Excel & PowerPoint.
Knowledge of R, Python, or Power BI beneficial.
Understanding of Regulation 28, SAM, and local investment frameworks.
Strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills.
