JOB SUMMARY:
Facilitate the scheduling of monthly Payment committee meetings ensuring attendance of key members. Manage the timely preparation, validation, and distribution of relevant Payments pack submissions. Monitor key risk indicators monthly and identify, research, and escalate anomalies. Provide ad hoc analysis as required to support collections and payments pack submissions. Identify and investigate areas of key strategic interest in respect of collections performance(efficiencies)and management

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Collections committee management
  • Facilitate the scheduling of monthly Payment committee meetings ensuring attendance of key members
  • Manage the timely preparation, validation, and distribution of relevant Payments pack submissions
  • Monitor key risk indicators monthly and identify, research, and escalate anomalies
  • Provide ad hoc analysis as required to support collections and payments pack submissions
  • Identify and investigate areas of key strategic interest in respect of collections performance(efficiencies)and management

Payments function
Ensure effective model implementation and optimal collections decisioning and improved collections cash flow:
  • Design bespoke collections scorecards that segment and rank order risk. Entails the development, validation, and implementation of collections models. (i.e. activation, contactibility, collections call ranking, striking models)
  • Implement payment strategies and support payment processes within the ambit of PASA and NCR. This includes the successful implementation of Debicheck and any other changes authorised and regulated by the two bodies that may impact the collections policy.
  • 3. Design data driven risk-based Payment Strategies (i.e. pay date and wage types). Good understanding of the striking platforms, patterns, and portfolio sensitivity towards calendar days. Optimise payments (strike success and cash collected) based on these statistical models. Perform champion/challenger tests and continuously challenge the cost to collect across various collections streams.
  • Data standards and Reporting Frameworks are maintained within collections.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in the data, set up automated daily and monthly reporting on all key metrics and strategy outcomes
  • Oversee the stability and availability of the collection’s analytical platform, specifically the collections data mart and access tools
  • Manage the analysis of ad hoc investigations and provide solutions and recommendations to the business
  • Facilitate changes to payments policy and procedures based on finding
  • Refine analytical methodologies and data presentation formats on an ongoing basis
  • RDARR owner for payments metrics
  • Stay abreast of industry changes and ensure compliance to changes where necessary
  • Governance and Adherence by ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements and maintaining healthy relations with regulators (National Credit Act, Consumer Protection Act, Code of Banking Practice)

Operational Support

  • Monitor key areas of the business independently to act as a 2nd line of defence and protect the business from risk
  • Support in ad hoc analyses to foster collaboration and build relationships across the business

Payment Engine

  • Manage the implementation and maintenance of new and existing payment processes and changes through the systems (i.e. Payments Engine)
  • Manage the inter departmental relationship with IT and Credit IT, to ensure that the Payments Engine deploys occur as scheduled
  • Manage the successful testing and sign off Payment Engines/ Payment System and deploys

Bureau strategy and other data sources

  • Work closely with the bank’s bureaux strategy and strategic bureaux partners
  • Analyse value-add of various data, compared to cost of such data from various data providers
  • Ensure effective, robust bureau monitoring, including monitoring of bureau data quality and various supplier analytics
  • Effectively negotiate favourable long-term commercials with various bureaux

Governance

  • Facilitate effective model governance processes including model validation, monitoring, reporting, auditing, liaising with Regulator, and ensure error-free implementation
  • Develop and maintain predictive modelling standards & the code / tools necessary to ensure widespread adherence hereto

Stakeholder management

  • Liaise effectively with, and appropriately influence, several teams including various strategy and operational teams, the underwriting/risk teams, SARB, model validators, the Model Risk Committee, Collections Manco, Credit Manco, Exco and auditors
