Senior Manager: Human Resources

POSITION INFO:

Purpose: To direct and guide the development of human resource strategy, advise the alignment of policies, processes and projects to implement the human resource practice towards supporting the achievement of the company strategy. Ensure compliance of processes to required standards, legislation and good external good practice standards.

Duties: The duties include but are not limited to the following:

1. Manage HR team.
2. Handle salary negotiations and work with the Union.
3. Manage all HR functions within the organisation.
4. Formulation and the Execution of the HR Strategy.
5. Handle all Employee Relations.
6. Look after all employment agreements as per organisational practices and legislation.
7. Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
8. Manage payroll.
9. Ensure compliance of submission of annual training report and Workplace Skills plan.
10. Recommend strategic direction for people development and succession planning within the organization.
11. Prepare reports for relevant committees.

Qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills and qualities required:

• At least a Post Graduate qualification in Human Resource Management (NQF level 8).
• A minimum of 10 years working experience as an HR Generalist at middle management level
• Ideal: at least Two (2) years’ experience in Public Sector.
• Knowledge supported by work experience in the following fields: Organisational Development and Innovation, Policy and Procedure development, Change Management, Performance Management, Employment Equity, Strategically aligned Training and Development, Talent Management, Succession Planning, Compensation and Benefits, HR Information Systems, HR special projects and HR Governance and Legislation,
• Critical skills required: Leadership and management; attention to detail; ability to work autonomously; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to solve problems; deadline driven; strong organisation and time management skills excellent interviewing skills; good written communication report writing, people management skills ; ability to work under pressure and on own initiative.
• Work outside of normal hours (or at home) to fulfil requirements, travel to other regions or conferences occasionally.
