JOB DESCRIPTION:

Role Summary:

· Ensuring that the Governance, Risk, Compliance and Control Frameworks of the Satyr Utilis Group, (SYUL), are operating effectively.

· Ensuring that these frameworks are maintained and updated as approved by the Board of SYUL.

· Making operative the risk controls required by the Frameworks to remain within agreed risk Parameters.

· Compiling, assessing and reporting risk information to the Executive Director and the Exco.

· Ensuring that the activities comply with relevant legislation and regulation.

· In addition, the SMRC is responsible for supporting the Executive Director in advising the Board.

Key Governance Responsibilities:

9.1 Chair, Risk and Compliance Committee

9.2 Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO)

9.3 Data Protection Officer (DPO)

9.4 Liaison with Regulators.

10. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPI) to manage the department(s) efficiently.

11. Facilitate communication within the department and management team, relaying information promptly to enhance team efficiency and spirit.

Knowledge, skills & experience:

· Graduate/Post Graduate Diploma or Masters in Law/Finance/Financial Services/Risk Management or equivalent qualification (e.g ACAMS)

· 7 - 10 years of experience in a similar position with industry knowledge of the sector (Financial Services, CSPs)

· Minimum 3 years at a Managerial position.

· Leadership skills, including the ability to manage risk, compliance and control activities in a complex financial services business.

· Considerable knowledge and experience of best practice risk management and governance frameworks, methodologies, and emerging practice, in relation to the Mauritian financial services context.

· Ability to exercise oversight over governance, risk, compliance and control arrangements in a complex financial services operation.

· Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyse medium-high complex information to identify the key issue/action and drive resolution.

· Knowledge and understanding of risk control arrangements.

· Proven ability to oversee a number of risk types, ideally including compliance, legal, operational, regulatory and strategic risk.

· Knowledge of regulatory environment and key regulatory regimes.
