Senior Mechanical Project engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to lead the successful delivery of multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept through commissioning. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer with proven project management experience who can manage multiple projects, coordinate cross-functional teams, and deliver high-quality engineering solutions safely, on time, and within budget.

The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing mechanical design, procurement, installation, commissioning, contractor management, and client engagement across a range of industrial and infrastructure projects.

POSITION INFO:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to lead the successful delivery of multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept through commissioning. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer with proven project management experience who can manage multiple projects, coordinate cross-functional teams, and deliver high-quality engineering solutions safely, on time, and within budget. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing mechanical design, procurement, installation, commissioning, contractor management, and client engagement across a range of industrial and infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities Lead mechanical engineering projects through all project phases, including concept, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. Develop project scopes, technical specifications, engineering calculations, and design reviews. Manage project schedules, budgets, resources, risks, and deliverables. Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and consultants. Review and approve mechanical designs, drawings, and technical documentation. Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, quality requirements, and safety legislation. Manage procurement activities, vendor evaluations, and technical bid adjudications. Oversee site installations, inspections, testing, commissioning, and project close-out. Identify and resolve technical challenges while minimising project risks. Prepare project reports, progress updates, cost forecasts, and management presentations. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the project team. Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices and project execution. Minimum Requirements BEng or BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or eligibility for registration will be advantageous. Minimum 5 years' experience managing mechanical engineering projects within mining, manufacturing, industrial plants, energy, or EPC environments. Demonstrated experience delivering capital projects from concept through commissioning. Strong understanding of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, piping, structural interfaces, and industrial plant equipment. Experience managing contractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar project management software. Working knowledge of engineering design software and CAD platforms will be advantageous. Excellent commercial awareness, contract management, and budgeting skills. Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites when required. Please send your cv to
