Senior Network Engineer (ISP Core)

SUMMARY:
eNetworks a division of Datacentrix is looking for a Senior Network Engineer with 5+ years experience in ISP industry to be based at the Cape Town offices. The candidate will be required to monitor, maintain, secure and develop local and national core network as well as access/client networks. Mentor a team of engineers to troubleshoot and optimize the network for our customers. Must have excellent problem-solving skills and thorough knowledge of network administration and architecture. The Senior Network Engineer goal will be to establish networks that cater for high uptime customer needs.

POSITION INFO:
Qualifications:

• Matric qualification
• Tertiary qualification (Computer Science or IT related)
• Certifications CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA
• Valid Driver’s License and own vehicle

• Must have professional OME certification, working knowledge and experience of 5+ years
• Solid background in network administration and architecture
• In-depth understanding of TCPIP and the network stack: IPv6, IPv4, routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF), Q-in-Q
• Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools (NMS)
• Solid understanding of network operating systems (JUNOS, Cisco IOS, Mikrotik)
• Must be able to communicate at a business level with IT Directors, IT staff and general users from our client base
• Industry-related experience as a Senior Network Engineer
• Have working practical knowledge of Data Centre Environments
• Have ISP industry working experience for 5+ years
• Be able to communicate and understand client requirements.

• Proactively monitor network performance and integrity
• Improve network performance, capacity and scalability
• Final escalation tier for network engineers
• Configure and install software, servers, routers and other network devices
• Design and deploy functional networks through Pre and After Sales Support
• Product research and development
• Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
• Maintain complete technical documentation
• Mentor team members on technical issues
• Liaise with various 3rd parties to ensure call resolution
• Liaise with project management and support teams
• Will be part of an after-hours standby rotation cycle
