Senior Powerline Design Engineer

SUMMARY:
A leading South African electrical and industrial engineering company that has been delivering excellent results has an opportunity for a Senior Power Line Design Engineer, with at min of 7 years relevant post qualification technical experience, BSc Eng or B.Eng.
Detail knowledge of overhead power line component design and related structural and civil requirements.
Project administration and coordination skills
Computer literacy with sound knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Sound knowledge of PLSCADD.
National and Internationals engineering codes and standards
Experience in power utility industry
Valid South African driver’s licence with no endorsements and their own transportation.
Proficient in principles of project management
PLS Pole and PLS Tower

POSITION INFO:
7 to 10 years post qualification technical experience in HV power transmission and distribution infrastructure in the power utility sector. Eskom distribution/transmission experience will be an advantage.
Perform the necessary calculations and studies including power systems studies on utility and industrial/commercial power transmission and distribution systems.
Line route selection and PLSCADD based overhead power line designs (tower spotting).
Development of project design documentation, technical specifications, perform concept and/or detail design layouts, and providing a detail design package that complies with applicable local, international and client specifications and standards.

Coordinate and review technical contract documents and perform contractor design reviews.
Demonstrate a personal commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment by following the Company’s Health, Safety & Environment Policy, and applying Safety Management Systems.
Identify and analyze design changes, modify design drawings and documents accordingly.
Attend FAT & SAT activities.
Provide engineering support during construction.
