Senior SHEQ Manager / Exec - Plastics Manufacturing

SUMMARY:
A leading plastics injection moulding manufacturing company specialising in the manufacturing and distribution of rigid plastic products requires the above to provide enterprise-level leadership and governance over Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Compliance (SHEQ & QC) across all manufacturing operations including Injection and Blow Moulding. Ensuring full legal compliance, product quality assurance, risk management, and integration of SHEQ and QC principles into operational decision-making, whilst supporting operational efficiency, customer satisfaction and business sustainability.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum requirements for the role:

• A Degree / Diploma in a SHEQ related qualification is essential for the role.
• SAMTRAC / NEBOSH / ISO Lead Auditor would be advantageous.
• Postgraduate qualification or certification in SHEQ and QC Management would be an advantage.
• Previous experience having worked within a senior SHEQ and/or Quality Management role within a manufacturing environment is essential.
• Previous ISO 9001 experience is essential for the role.
• Previous experience having worked within a senior SHEQ role working within the plastics manufacturing industry ideally covering injection and blow moulding operations is preferred but not essential.
• Proven experience in Audit processes, risk assessments, incident investigations and regulatory compliance is essential.
• Proven ability to implement safety and quality culture across multiple production areas.
• Senior leadership experience, having management a team of people is preferred.
• Previous experience having worked in a unionised / MEIBC aligned operations environment is preferred.
• The successful candidate must have an advanced knowledge of OHS and environmental legislation, ISO management systems, Manufacturing quality systems and must have strong governance, reporting and stakeholder management skills.

• Providing enterprise-level leadership and governance over Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Compliance (SHEQ & QC) across all manufacturing operations including Injection Moulding and Blow Moulding.
• Ensuring full legal compliance, product quality assurance, risk management, and integration of SHEQ and QC principles into operational decision-making, whilst supporting operational efficiency, customer satisfaction and business sustainability.
• Defining and implementing an integrated SHEQ and quality strategy aligned to business objectives.
• Establishing governance frameworks, policies, standards, and delegations of authority.
• Ensuring alignment and compliance with ISO 9001.
• Developing, implementing and maintaining the company’s Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
• Providing functional oversight with regards to quality control and assurance.
• Overseeing the company’s Quality Management System across all production areas.
• Ensuring compliance with ISA standards and customer-specific quality requirements.
• Ensuring robust systems for Incoming material inspection, In-process quality control and Final product inspection and release.
• Driving the resolution of NCRs within defined timeframes, including corrective actions, customer complaints, recalls and quality risks.
• Ensuring regular internal quality audits and inspections, including supplier and customer audits and readiness programmes.
• Developing, implementing and maintaining an Environmental Management System aligned with South African environmental legislation.
• Providing Board and EXCO-ready reporting on SHEQ and QC performance, Health, Safety & Quality risks as well as Legal and compliance exposure.
