JOB SUMMARY:
One of South Africa's largest financial services providers is looking for an experienced SQL DBA, to join their team in Sandton on a permanent basis.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The successful applicant will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems. Their main goal will be to ensure the availability and consistent performance of various corporate applications.

Main Duties and Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):

Manage SQL Server databases
Configure and maintain database servers and processes
Monitor system's health and performance
Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability and security
Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time via the appropriate change control protocols
Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement

Qualifications:

Matric / Grade 12
Relevant Microsoft SQL Server certifications advantageous

Skills and Experience Required:

2-5 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA or similar role
2-5 years of experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO)
2-5 years of experience with backups, restores and recovery models
2-5 years of experience of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
2-5 years of experience with Windows server

Additional Requirements:

Office based role - candidates must be willing to travel to and from the office daily.
