POSITION INFO:

Job Title: Senior Specialist – NMSI Technical Lead
Fixed Term Contract of Employement

The role is responsible for ensuring the effective design, integration, optimisation, and sustainability of biodiversity information systems that support national environmental reporting, research, and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the technical architecture, development, and enhancement of NMSI platforms and related biodiversity information systems
Ensure data integrity, system performance, security, and compliance with governance standards
Oversee integration of biodiversity, environmental, and geospatial datasets
Provide technical leadership to internal teams, service providers, and project stakeholders
Support national reporting obligations and digital transformation initiatives
Identify and mitigate technical risks while driving innovation and continuous improvement

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a degree in Ecology, Biology, Geographic Information Systems or Data Science or equivalent qualification at NQ7
A postgraduate qualification will be a added advantage
Extensive experience in enterprise systems architecture and technical leadership
Strong knowledge of data management, system integration, APIs, and cloud environments
Experience working with large-scale databases, GIS platforms, and environmental or scientific data systems
Proven ability to manage complex ICT projects in a public sector or research environment
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
