Structural Designer (Contract) in the Projects and Engineering Design Office - Centurion

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Qualifications and other minimum requirements:

Grade 12
T1
T2 or N6 (Advantageous)

Experience:

+10 – 15 Years in Mining and Minerals and Chemical Process industry
Experience in light to heavy structural steelwork
Producing structural layouts of process buildings, platforms and support structures
To shop detail structural members

Personal attributes:

To perform the duties in an orderly and professional manner

Computer literacy / system requirements:

Microsoft Office/Word/Excel
Autodesk Revit (10 years exp)
AutoCAD 2D and 3D
Advanced AutoCAD 3D (Advantageous)

Competency profile:

Architecture - Understanding the principles and techniques involved in the design of Structural Diagrams/Layouts and Details
Blueprints, specification, plan reading - Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models
Building and construction - Knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in the manufacture & construction of structural buildings
Design - Providing documentation, detailed instructions, and drawings to inform others about how to manufacture and construct steel structures
Administration - Basic knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions and production within the discipline
Attention to detail - Focusing on aspects of the work task which may be precise or form small parts of the whole and is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail
Interpersonal relations - Showing understanding and politeness to others, developing and maintaining relationships with others, being able to deal with individuals who are difficult and relating well to people from varied backgrounds
