POSITION INFO:
I'm recruiting on behalf of my client for a Senior Taxologist focusing on strategic tax change to help drive digital transformation across a large, complex financial services environment. This is not a compliance-only role. It’s about reshaping how tax operates using systems, automation and smarter data.

You’ll join a leading financial services group operating across South Africa and the wider African region. The business is investing heavily in digital transformation and modernizing its tax function from the inside out. This role supports enterprise-wide transformation across people, process and technology. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, IT teams and tax specialists to embed digitalization, automation and a data-centric mindset across the tax function.

Key Responsibilities

Drive the transition of people, processes and technology in line with the tax digital transformation strategy.
Embed digitalization across the tax function through automation, data analytics and modern tax systems.
Lead and support end-to-end solutions delivery for tax technology and change initiatives.
Collaborate with IT to design, implement and support integrated tax systems and tools.
Translate business and executive tax requirements into practical, value-driven technology solutions.
Support a data-centric approach that improves reporting, accuracy and decision-making across tax.

Job Experience and Skills Required

Relevant qualification in Tax, Finance, Accounting, or similar.
3–5 years’ experience in tax technology, tax change, tax transformation or a similar environment.
Experience within financial services, banking or complex corporate environments is highly beneficial.
Exposure to indirect tax systems and tax process automation.
Experience delivering projects with multiple milestones and dependencies.
Strong understanding of tax technology and enterprise systems (e.g. SAP and source systems).
Experience with tax tools such as Vertex, Avalara or similar platforms.
Data and analytics exposure using tools like Alteryx, SAS, Power BI.
RPA experience (e.g. Workfusion or similar).
Solid working knowledge of SQL and MS Office 365.
Process mapping and optimization skills.
