About the Role
Our client is seeking a Senior Technician (CCTV & Network Infrastructure) to oversee a critical maintenance contract within a premier mining environment in Kathu. This role is suited to a highly skilled technical specialist with a strong background in IP-based surveillance systems and network infrastructure, who thrives in high-pressure, high-compliance environments. You will take ownership of the end-to-end performance, stability, and optimisation of integrated CCTV and network systems, ensuring continuous uptime and operational visibility for security and safety teams. This is a hands-on, site-based role requiring strong fault-finding ability, proactive maintenance expertise, and the discipline to operate within strict mining and safety regulations. (Valid License and Own Vehicle needed)
POSITION INFO:
What you’ll be doing
- Execute scheduled preventative maintenance in line with SLA requirements across CCTV and network infrastructure
- Monitor, maintain, and optimise IP-based CCTV systems to ensure 24/7 system availability
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise-level Video Management Systems (VMS)
- Perform advanced fault-finding and diagnostics on cameras, network devices, and recording systems
- Maintain and support network infrastructure including Layer 2/3 switching, VLANs, and TCP/IP environments
- Support and maintain fibre optic networks, including splicing and fault resolution
- Manage and maintain wireless network links (e.g. Ubiquiti, Mikrotik) across site
- Ensure all maintenance and installations comply with Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and site-specific requirements
- Maintain accurate and detailed service logs, reports, and system documentation
- Liaise with mine management and security teams to ensure system performance meets operational needs
- Respond to breakdowns and incidents with urgency to minimise downtime
- Continuously identify opportunities for system improvement and optimisation
What you’ll need- 4 – 7+ years’ experience in CCTV, surveillance systems, and network infrastructure
- Proven experience working with enterprise-level Video Management Systems (VMS)
- Strong knowledge of IP-based CCTV systems (PTZ, Thermal, Fixed cameras, NVRs, storage solutions)
- Solid networking knowledge including Layer 2/3 switching, VLANs, and TCP/IP protocols
- Experience with fibre optics (splicing, maintenance) and wireless bridging technologies (Ubiquiti, Mikrotik)
- Previous experience working in a mining or heavy industrial environment (highly advantageous)
- Valid Hikvision Certified Professional (HCP) or Associate (HCSA) certification (essential)
- Active PSIRA Grade C registration (minimum)
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle (essential)
- Must be medically fit and able to pass a Red Ticket medical examination
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
- High level of attention to detail and structured approach to work
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with site management
- Ability to work in demanding outdoor conditions (heat, dust, remote environments)
