Senior Test Analyst

We are looking for a Senior Test Analyst / Lead to join our financial services client based in Sandton for a 12-month contract role.

The Senior Test Analyst / Lead is responsible for leading testing activities across complex initiatives, ensuring high-quality software delivery, and providing mentorship and quality governance within the testing function. The role combines hands-on testing with test planning, coordination, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement of testing practices.

POSITION INFO:
What you will be doing: Lead the definition and execution of test strategies, test plans, and testing approaches for projects and releases. Analyse complex business and technical requirements to define comprehensive test coverage. Estimate testing effort, identify quality risks, and provide input into delivery planning. Ensure testing activities align with organisational quality standards and best practices. Design, review, and maintain high-quality test scenarios, test cases, and test data. Execute and oversee functional, integration, system, regression, and end-to-end testing. Guide test automation efforts and identify opportunities to optimise testing processes. Ensure non-functional testing requirements, including performance, security, and usability, are appropriately considered. Manage the defect lifecycle, ensuring defects are clearly logged, prioritised, tracked, and resolved. Perform root cause analysis and recommend improvements to software quality and testing processes. Provide go\/no-go recommendations based on test outcomes, quality risks, and business impact. Work closely with Business Analysts, Developers, Product Owners, and Project Managers throughout the delivery lifecycle. Translate testing risks, issues, and outcomes into clear, business-focused insights. Support and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities. Coach and mentor Test Analysts and junior QA team members. Review test artefacts and provide constructive feedback to improve quality and consistency. Drive continuous improvement across testing processes, tools, methodologies, and practices. What we are looking for: Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 5+ years' experience in software testing , with at least 2 years in a senior or test lead capacity . Advanced knowledge of software testing methodologies, SDLC, STLC, and quality assurance practices. Strong experience in test planning, test analysis, test design, execution, and defect management. Experience leading testing activities independently across multiple workstreams. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Experience working within Agile delivery environments, including Scrum or SAFe. Solid experience with manual testing and exposure to test automation frameworks. Experience with API testing and data validation. Strong SQL skills for test analysis and data validation. Experience using test management and defect tracking tools. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Strong attention to detail with a strategic quality and risk mindset. ISTQB Advanced Test Analyst or equivalent certification will be advantageous. Experience within financial services or banking environments will be advantageous.
