Service Operations Centre (SOC) Engineer

SUMMARY:
Our client in the Sports and Digital Entertainment industry has an opportunity available for a Service Operations Centre (SOC) Engineer to be based in the Cape Town area.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements:

• Experience of using Microsoft Server OS, service restarts and basic administration.
• Experience of using Linux.
• Experience of Microsoft Azure in a monitoring environment, or similar (Amazon Web Services).
• Experience of or basic knowledge of SQL, SQL Scripting and how Databases operate.
• Experience of employment in a Support role or IT Network Support role.
• Knowledge and clear understanding of basic IT networking protocols including TCP/IP routing and DNS.
• Knowledge of what ITIL is and why it is used.
• Experience of using monitoring software, ideally any of the software: Ops Genie, Grafana, Prometheus, Site 24x7, Kibana
• Experience of working in a Support Team environment.

• Ensure maximum possible service availability and performance through pro-active monitoring, alerting and diagnostic activities.
• Provide support services for Engineering and other technical teams.
• Fault handling and escalation (identifying and responding to faults in our production gaming systems and networks).
• Manage and resolve assigned incident tickets.
• Support Problem Management and root cause analysis.
• Become an SME on the systems and services you support.
• Support disaster recovery activities.
• Support the Engineering team during release and maintenance procedures
