Position: Specialist: Quality Assurance (Underwriting)

Purpose:

To ensure new business & underwriting of policies is correct and accurate

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Report and monitor anomalies on Underwriting system.
   Quality check finalised underwritten cases.
   Network with relevant stakeholders, Service Providers etc.
   Reporting - anomalies found to Manager.
   Underwriting/ New Business administration - Monitor and report on all.
   Sampling Exclusion letters when there was a loading.
   Sampling HIV letters sent to doctors for HIV positive clients.
   Sampling limits of Liability cases.
   Sampling underwriting calls for Quality Checks and Customer Experience.
2. 
   Comply with audit risk requirements
   Assist Management with tasks needed for audit purposes
   Underwriting processing pre-audit
   Treat customers fairly throughout the administration process
3. 
   Quality Assurance
   Amend policies after finalization of High-Risk policies
   Facilitate necessary Process updates with underwriters
   Monthly exception report to Manager / Supervisor regarding anomalies found
   Ensure quality assurance done to all underwritten cases completed
   Render quality after care service to all clients on underwritten cases finalized (Performance - Client experience)
   Contact client for telephonic verification of the Underwritten experience
   Special projects as from time to time
   Identify gaps in current processes (recommend process improvements)
   Report on ongoing errors
   Identify root causes to facilitate improvement opportunities
   Set up performance benchmarks and ensure management information is aligned with benchmarks
   Coaching feedback with team

Requirements

• Formal Education:

• 3-year Diploma/ Degree recognised by the FSCA

• Insurance Legislation, RE5 Advantageous, Medical Underwriting

Experience:

5 years Medical Underwriting experience (Not Negotiable)
Microsoft office (Excel, word, PowerPoint, PowerBI)
