provide a service to Mine Management on rock mass
behaviour, underground support, slope stability (including surface excavation and residue deposits), the theory and practice of draw
control, concrete technology and to advise on general Geotechnical Engineering/ Rock Mechanics problems as per legal appointment
POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:
B Sc Hons Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Mining Engineering or Civil Engineering.
A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in underground massive mining – preferably in a block cave and mechanised development environment.
COM Certificate in Rock Mechanics.
Experience with Cave Management Solutions – please indicate clearly on your CV
Management Development Programme (MDP) or equivalent qualification.
Computer Literacy and Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate)
Valid driver''s license.
Advantage:
Experience with Geological or Geotechnical Modelling software
Pit monitoring knowledge and data analysis
Senior Management Development Programme (SMDP) or equivalent qualification.
Technical Competencies:
Demonstrate knowledge and skill in geotechnical engineering principles and practices.
Provide geotechnical input in mine planning and design and supply accurate geotechnical information and advice.
Maintain and operate systems for monitoring and reporting on ground subsidence, excavation deterioration and seismicity.
Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental aspects of structural geology.
Demonstrate knowledge with regards to legal requirements in geotechnical engineering.
Prepare technical reports for use by mine management.
