Our client, a Proudly South African concern, with over 120 years of experience, have established themselves as the Continent’s leading manufacturer. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and managing a team of Supply Chain/Warehouse personnel, you will need the following:

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Person:

B.Com in Supply Chain; or Degree in Engineering/Technical/Financial or Commercial is essential.
Advanced Business or Finance Degree (MBA, MBL, CA), an advantage.
Minimum 10 years experience at a Senior Management level, in one or more of the following disciplines:
- Procurement;
- Finance;
- Materials management;
- Logistics.

The Job:

Responsibility for the end to end procure-to-pay process.
Lead a delivery-focused Supply Chain department that is responsible for the movement of goods, from manufacturers and suppliers to the customer.
Provide oversight and manage every stage of the circular flow from:
- Purchasing of raw materials;
- Goods and services;
- Contract management;
- Daily buying;
- Receiving and management of stock;
- Inventory and materials requirement planning;
- Picking and packing; and
- dispatch and outbound logistics to the delivery of the final product.
Aggressively drive savings through the development of effective and pragmatic procurement solutions in critical areas, whether these be material commodity types or critical business processes.
Manage activities related to sourcing or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing, and distribution.
Design, implement, or oversee product take back or reverse logistics programs to ensure products are recycled, reused, or responsibly disposed.
Define, performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as cost or quality.
Commit the company's contractually in terms of the delegation of authority by the Managing Director and/or policy.
Active player in most critical negotiations.
Put in place and closely manage critical support and administrative processes such as:
- Standard contract framework;
- IT system enhancements;
- Vendor management systems;
- Materials management guidelines;
- BEE compliance programme; and
- Streamline administrative processes
Operational outlook with demonstrated successes in building and maintaining strong and productive relationships with Manufacturing and Engineering personnel.

Technical Work Focus:

Within the context of supply chain vision, mission and business objectives provide overall functional leadership.
Lobby Senior Executive support and buy-in for relevant supply chain initiatives.
Mediate conflicts between the supply chain, end-users and external stakeholders.
Ensure good governance in all aspects of sourcing and procurement management.
Draft and approve supply chain policy and procedures.
Supply chain system business requirement design.
Business communication and stakeholder management.
Vendor relations and supplier performance management.
Negotiation strategy and tactics.
Risk management including implementing of strong control and governance framework.

Team Development:

Plan and co-ordinate the delivery of training programmes/capacity development initiatives in the supply chain function.
Identify and manage talent within the team to position them for future roles either within own team or broader organisation.
Develop bench strength and implement succession planning in supply chain arena.
Define the values and behaviours required to create a positive motivational culture in the supply chain and drive a customer service oriented culture.

Competencies:

Competent in operational and strategic supply chain processes and relevant legislation.
Sound and demonstrable knowledge of supply chain principles and methods.
Good IT knowledge and skills.
Good knowledge of logistics and warehousing.
Highly competent in the management of supplier management processes.
