SUMMARY:
Our client in the mining industry is seeking to employ a Supply Chain Specialist who has experience in labour rates standardisation/costing. This is a 6 month contract position based in Johannesburg with travel to sites.
The purpose of the role is to Lead labour cost optimisation in the repairs department by conducting contractor labour rate benchmarking, identifying outliers and implementing standardised labour rates.
Improving contractor utilisation, introducing governance controls and negotiating to ensure sustainable cost efficiency.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:
Identify cost saving opportunities within the contractor labour component.
Conduct labour rate benchmarking across onsite and offsite service providers.
Identify rate outliers and negotiate reductions or standardisation opportunities.
Develop and implement standardised labour rates across relevant functions.
Scrutinise labour hours claimed versus actual work performed.
Introduce role-based labour allocation controls and cap monthly billable hours per resource.
Review contractor performance and utilisation to identify inefficiencies.
Establish and support a contractor labour governance framework.
Collaborate with HR, Finance and Engineering to align contractor labour cost structures.
Support implementation and tracking of contractor labour cost optimisation initiatives.

Required Qualifications s Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain or related.
5+ years’ experience in mining, manufacturing or maintenance operations.
Proven experience in labour cost modelling, productivity analysis and rate benchmarking.
Experience with SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems.
Familiarity with labour costing systems will be advantageous.
