Systems Analyst

The Senior System Analyst is responsible for bridging the gap between business requirements and the development team. The System Analyst must understand the business requirements as well as the technical environment and marry the two up. This entails interaction with business, business analyst and technical stakeholders and compilation of Functional Requirements Specifications against which the development and architecture team is able to deliver the solution. In addition the System Analyst must be able to investigate and understand the existing technology, constraints and solutions in place, down to the ability to interrogate and model databases, and top level system architecture. The ideal System Analyst has a combination of a strong technical background, software testing skills as well as business understanding, elicitation and communication skills.

The System Analyst will work on multiple projects in the Woolworths environment and will be required to manage his/her time effectively. The environment is based on Microsoft technology including MS SQL server, a .NET development toolset as well as other technology suites depending on the system in question.

DUTIES:

1. Functional and Testing

• Understand and Analyse systems in the environment, including database and top level architecture understanding
• Produce Functional Requirements Specifications
• Produce accurate mapping of “As is” and “To be” processes
• Identify project risks and issues and ensure that they are documented
• Produce User Acceptance Test Cases and Scenarios and assist with SIT and QA testing
• Provide regular, continuous and accurate feedback to project management team
• Participation in and sign-off of user acceptance testing, pilot and production testing

2. General

• Adhere to set process standards
• Co-work with the Business Analysts and technical team to define and design solutions that meet customer requirements
• Co-work with the project manager to drive delivery on time, within budget, scope and quality
• Perform efficient and effective JAD facilitation with relevant project stakeholders

3. Teamwork

• Build and maintain meaningful relationships with stakeholders

Experience Required:

• Must be able to operate independently and have a solid Microsoft tools background.
• Financial Services background
• Experience across data-, integration services-
• Front-end- development
• Process analysis
• 5 or more years Technical Business Analysis experience
• 3 or more years within a mature PMO environment
• Experience in Retail industry preferred
• A hands on technical background such as software development or database development will be a strong advantage
• Business analysis methods, practices and techniques
• Business process modelling and mapping
• Formal methodology such as UML and BPMN will be a strong advantage
• Proven track record of successfully implementing technology projects
• General understanding in the areas of application programming, database design and project management is highly desirable
• SQL Query and basic Relational Database design skills
• Understanding of modern enterprise application building blocks

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Matric
• Minimum 5 to 6 years relevant Business Analysis experience
• B-degree or similar an advantage
• Business Analysis qualification an advantage
• Project Management qualification an advantage
