SUMMARY:
The position primarily involves managing the tax affairs of various clients. While VAT and employee taxes are handled separately, this role will provide assistance in cases of disputes with SARS. The individual will also collaborate with the firm's director on various tax matters and contribute to standardizing processes and documentation within the firm.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

Perform provisional tax calculations (bi-annually).
Conduct final tax calculations (annually).
Review trial balances and financial statements to assess tax risks, working closely with bookkeepers and accountants.
Manage SARS verifications and audits.
Handle SARS disputes, including objections, appeals, and escalations.
Prepare and submit all SARS income tax returns.
Oversee ad hoc tax matters such as securities transfer tax and dividend withholding tax.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education: BCom Accounting Degree; Honours Degree preferred.
Additional Qualifications: Tax-related qualifications and completed articles are advantageous.

Experience:

Strong experience in dealing with SARS.
Proven ability to prepare tax calculations for companies, trusts, and individuals (both provisional and final).

Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly with clients.
Strong proficiency in English writing.
Comprehensive knowledge of various tax acts.
