Tax Accountant

SUMMARY:
An established accounting and tax firm based in the Knysna area is seeking a skilled Tax Accountant to join their dynamic team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing individual tax returns, managing a designated client portfolio, handling correspondence with SARS, and supporting various tax-related matters.
This hybrid role offers a balance of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, calculate, and submit income tax returns for individuals and resolve any related queries
• Attend to SARS verifications and assist in follow-ups for individuals
• Submit applications for tax directives and other relevant SARS requests
• Engage with SARS and maintain professional communication for efficient resolution of client matters
• Assist in compiling responses to SARS queries and managing disputes or objections
• Maintain comprehensive, accurate tax records and documentation
• Conduct tax research and keep current on changes in South African tax legislation
• Prepare and submit AIT (Approval for International Transfer) and non-residency applications
• Provide ad hoc support to directors and accounting team with tax-related queries and advisory

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ tax and tax-related experience
• In-depth knowledge and practical application of South African tax laws, SARS procedures, and regulatory frameworks
• Registered Tax Practitioner (or eligibility to register is advantageous)
