Tax Compliance Officer

SUMMARY:

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full tax compliance function for a portfolio of medium-sized companies and clients across various industries. The role requires a strong understanding of South African tax legislation, SARS processes, and excellent client relationship skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full tax compliance function for a portfolio of medium-sized companies and clients across various industries. The role requires a strong understanding of South African tax legislation, SARS processes, and excellent client relationship skills.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or similar
• Minimum 4 years’ proven tax compliance experience within an accounting or professional services environment
• Experience handling multiple medium-sized company portfolios simultaneously
• Solid working knowledge of SARS eFiling and South African tax legislation
• Experience with:
  • VAT
  • PAYE
  • Income Tax (Individuals and Companies)
  • Provisional Tax
  • EMP submissions
  • Dividends Tax
• Proficient in:
  • Greatsoft
  • CaseWare
  • Pastel Accounting
  • Microsoft Excel
• Strong administrative and organisational abilities
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively
• Must reside in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town

Key Responsibilities

• Managing the full tax compliance process for a portfolio of clients
• Preparing and submitting:
  • VAT201 returns
  • EMP201 submissions
  • EMP501 reconciliations
  • Provisional tax returns
  • Individual and company income tax returns
• Capturing and reviewing accounting information on Pastel Accounting
• Utilizing Greatsoft for workflow management, tax administration, and client communication
• Assisting with financial statements and supporting schedules on CaseWare where required
• Monitoring SARS deadlines and ensuring timeous submissions
• Liaising directly with SARS regarding client queries, objections, verifications, and audits
• Maintaining accurate tax records and supporting documentation
• Assisting clients with tax-related queries and compliance matters
• Conducting tax calculations and reconciliations
• Ensuring compliance with current South African tax legislation and regulations
• Assisting with tax clearances and SARS registrations where required
• Building and maintaining professional client relationships
