SUMMARY:
An exciting opportunity exists with a leading tertiary education group for an Academic Professional to be directly responsible for the quality assurance in the development of new curricula for accreditation for the wider Group.

POSITION INFO:

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Development of the skills of academics in the fields of curriculum knowledge, teaching and learning and assessment.
  • Assessment of academics in the above and implementation of individual and collective interventions for improving these
  • Quality assurance of academic material and assessments including interventions as needed.
  • Promotion of the Institute’s Teaching and Learning Strategy and contribution to its development and implementation.
  • Support of development of new programmes for accreditation in particular quality assurance of curriculum design against HEQC standards and criteria
  • Quality assurance and monitoring functions – including of brand work in the field of teaching and learning.
  • Development of training and support programmes.
  • Participation in governance and policy processes.
  • Other relevant responsibilities as may be delegated from time to time.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • At least a Master’s degree with relevant experience in higher education, but a PhD is preferred. Where a candidate does not have a Masters degree but has extensive relevant experience an exception could be made – particularly for a candidate with an education qualification.

 

Experience:

  • 5 years’ experience in higher education, preferably in a role that focuses on teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Experience in development and quality assurance of learning material and assessments at different levels and modes of delivery is advantageous.
  • Experience in supporting the development of teaching and learning of lecturers and material developers would be advantageous.
  • Experience working on a learning management system would be advantageous

 

Competencies:

  • Superior interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to develop and mentor peers.
  • Superior communicative competency (written and verbal) in English.
  • Understanding of the complexities of second or third language education and communication for students and staff.
  • Digital literacy/ competence
  • Training capacity – from design to implementation.
  • Proven ability to work constructively in a team, display initiative, manage own work including competing demands against tight deadlines and managing work to successful completion – including problem resolution. Proven ability to lead others using strategies other than positional authority.
  • Understanding of the higher education regulatory environment particularly the accreditation environment and associated quality assurance issues (preferable).
