JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of the Group Accountant role is to provide support to both the finance team as well as the Senior Manager - Financial Operations.
This support will be in the form of:
- Supervising creditors processes
- Reviewing and approving payments
- Staff management
- Cashflow management

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Key Performance Area
Creditors processes
- Ensure creditors team are processing supplier orders and invoices accurately and within deadlines
- Ensure compliance with accounting and VAT/ tax requirements

Review and approve creditor reconciliations
- Ensure creditor accounts are accurately reconciled
- Ensure payment amounts are correct

Payment processes
- Ensure supplier payments are scheduled and loaded correctly
- Approve payments

Cashflow management
- Reconcile upcoming supplier payments
- Forecast expected purchases
- Forecast cash requirements
- Analyse variances in actual cashflow from forecast

Foreign currency transactions
- Determine foreign currency requirements and execute foreign currency transactions
- Review and process foreign currency revaluations
- Forecast FEC requirements and utilize FECs
- Reconcile forex gains/ losses

Team management
- Supervise team members to ensure finance department objectives and deadlines are met
- Review team’s recons & reports to ensure the accuracy thereof
- Manage the performance of team members
- Plan and approve leave schedules to ensure minimal disruption to operations
- Develop team’s skills through coaching

General Ledger and analysis
- Review cost accounts on a monthly basis
- Analyse expenses and provide commentary on costs
- Ensure compliance with IFRS

Prepare reports, recons and analysis
-Prepare ad hoc reports, recons and analysis as required

Audit
- Prepare recons & reports required for audit purposes
- Ensure processes and documentation meet audit requirements

Risk management, processes & controls
- Maintain vigilance over new operational and financial risks and implement controls to mitigate risks

Any other ad hoc duties as may be required

Qualification, Knowledge and Experience

Postgraduate accounting degree or equivalent qualification.
3 years’ experience in a similar role or equivalent experience.
Good excel skills and able to perform reconciliations. Analytically minded with the ability to work on own initiative and priorities work. Deadline driven and goal oriented.
Leadership skills and experience.
