Our client is seeking an exceptional Technical Director – Water Optimisation to provide strategic and technical leadership across a portfolio of complex water infrastructure projects. This executive-level role is suited to a highly experienced professional with a proven track record in water engineering, infrastructure optimisation, asset management, and multidisciplinary project delivery.

As the Technical Director, you will drive technical excellence, mentor engineering teams, build and maintain key client relationships, and contribute to the growth of the Water Business Unit. You will play a pivotal role in developing innovative, sustainable solutions that improve the performance and resilience of municipal, industrial, and bulk water infrastructure.

Our client is seeking an exceptional Technical Director - Water Optimisation to provide strategic and technical leadership across a portfolio of complex water infrastructure projects. This executive-level role is suited to a highly experienced professional with a proven track record in water engineering, infrastructure optimisation, asset management, and multidisciplinary project delivery. As the Technical Director, you will drive technical excellence, mentor engineering teams, build and maintain key client relationships, and contribute to the growth of the Water Business Unit. You will play a pivotal role in developing innovative, sustainable solutions that improve the performance and resilience of municipal, industrial, and bulk water infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic technical leadership for water optimisation and infrastructure projects. Lead the planning, design, optimisation, rehabilitation, and upgrading of: Bulk water supply systems Water distribution networks Pump stations Reservoirs Water treatment works Pressure management systems Direct complex hydraulic modelling and network optimisation studies. Develop long-term infrastructure master plans and asset management strategies. Oversee technical quality, governance, and compliance across multiple projects. Serve as Technical Authority and provide expert guidance to multidisciplinary engineering teams. Mentor and develop engineers while promoting technical excellence throughout the business. Build and maintain long-term relationships with municipalities, water utilities, government departments, and private sector clients. Identify business development opportunities and support proposal preparation and tender submissions. Provide strategic input into business planning, resource management, and project delivery. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Represent the organisation at industry forums, technical committees, and client engagements. Minimum Requirements BEng or BSc Civil Engineering (Honours or Master's degree advantageous). Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr Eng . Minimum 10 years' experience in water infrastructure engineering. At least 8 years' experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and major infrastructure programmes. Proven consulting engineering experience delivering municipal and bulk water infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of South African water legislation, engineering standards, procurement processes, and contract administration. Please send your cv to
