JOB SUMMARY:

An established manufacturer of Animal Feed Products is seeking the above to evaluate, formulate and sign off the chemical and nutritional value of raw materials with the aim to provide technical advice to Clients, Sales Team, Factory and Procurement and to facilitate workshops with Sales Teams and clients in support of product development.

JOB DESCRIPTION:


Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Must have an MSc Animal Science degree
  • Must comply with SACNASP Registration and hold a Professional Natural Scientist (Pri.Sci.Nat) registration
  • Experience in commercial animal feed formulation is essential
  • Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in the Animal Feed Industry will be required
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in commercial animal feed formulation / Software
  • Knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems standards/requirements is advantageous
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, have own reliable transport and be medically fit to drive

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Overseeing, and approving all product formulations done by the Technical Liaison and Nutritionist - Responsible for final sign off.
  • Compiling and recommending formulations for clients as requested based on their specific unique requirements.
  • Improving/updating formulations with new raw materials, or based on new research for better product offerings.
  • Conducting client visits (with/without Account Managers) for technical support and relationship building, technical product training and management practices.
  • Assisting the Account Managers and the Product Manager with trials.
  • Writing and publishing scientific and popular articles in magazines, etc.
  • Maintaining communication, liaison and meetings with suppliers as required.
  • Attending industry training and events as and when required.
  • Creating and loading premixes onto the Admin Portal and provide final approval of premixes created.
  • Assisting customers and Account Managers with technical queries on the Admin Portal.
  • Assisting with the maintenance and updating of the Admin Portal regarding client permissions as well as Account Manager profiles and permissions and where required
  • create Vendors on the Admin Portal.
  • Creating ingredients, raw materials and materials on the Admin Portal as required and provide approval for new ingredients, materials and raw materials.
  • Assisting with reworks and recalls as well as expired stock as and when required by the Business Unit Manager.
  • Assisting with formulations of premixes and macro’s as and when required.
  • Providing approval for replacements for the factory.
  • Maintaining regular communication with Quality Control and approvals of raw materials and quality thereof for use in the factory.
  • Keeping up to date on all new developments and requirements pertaining to Act 36 and any new guidelines issued related to this Act, evaluate its impact and implementation on the registration process.
  • Arranging visits with Specialists and clients in order to obtain more technical knowledge and know-how.
  • Identifying opportunities for the Company to evaluate, providing product info, pricing info and competitor activity.
  • Managing staff.

Salary package, including benefits, are highly negotiable depending on experience gained
