POSITION INFO:
The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Technical Specialist â?? Domain SME for a Fixed Term Contract for our client in Johannesburg. To be the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the technical domain by providing solutions and advice to business across multiple problem sets, working with vendors to improve IT technical domain solutions as well as providing support to junior staff.

 

Minimum educational level:                                                      

• Completed qualifications in Information Technology and Computer Sciences

 

We require your 5 to 7 yearsâ?? work experience in:

Technology - Information Technology

• Significant experience in the infrastructure space having worked across multiple domains or specialisation in a domain.
• Ability to deal with all levels of the business and technology stakeholders across large organizations.
• Experience in defining conceptual, logical and physical infrastructure domain.
• Would be considered the SME in the domain and have industry recognition.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide operational maintenance and production support including consultation, facilitation and implementation of Technical domain functionality
• Maintain alignment to the architectural plan and roadmaps
• Manage internal and external relationships
• Remain and maintain a current awareness of the relevant technical IT domain
• Provide technical expertise in the relevant technical IT domain
• Mentor, educate and coach team members

 

Technical Competencies

Capacity Management

• Manage the capability and functionality of hardware, software and network components to meet current and predicted needs in a cost-effective manner.

Application Knowledge for Support

• Ensure provision of application maintenance and support services.
• Support typically takes the form of investigating and resolving problems and providing information about the systems, it may also include monitoring their performance.

Database Administration

• Manage the installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring and maintenance of physical databases.

Change Management

• Required to manage all changes to the components of a live infrastructure, from requests for change (RFC) through implementation and review, to support the continued availability, effectiveness and safety.

Technology Orientation

• The understanding of broad areas that form technology landscape and how they complement each other in for specific IT solutions or decisions. This would comprise of, but not limited to, the following: BI, CRM, ERP, Database, Open Source, Web 2.0.

Infrastructure/Platforms

• Enterprise computing infrastructure support and maintenance provision.

IT Systems

• Knowledge and understanding of various IT systems and related configurations as applied within a specified business environment.
