SUMMARY:
Our client, a manufacturer of colourants and additives for the plastics sector, requires a Technical Specialist, East Rand

POSITION INFO:

Requirements

BSc Chemistry / BTech in Polymer Science preferred. Alternatively, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering degrees would be considered.
Experience in a technical or production role within the polymers and / or plastics industry
Experience in Plastics conversion (Injection Moulding / Blow Moulding / Film / Roto Moulding etc.)
Knowledge of Polymer chemistry and their respective applications; Pigments and colour development

Responsibilities

Project Management – overseeing the management of all internal and customer projects as well as executing the development projects together with the Technical Assistant/s support team.
Additive and Formulations Developments – attending supplier meetings, researching, sourcing, and evaluating various additives and dispersants to improve functionality of our formulations as required by clients’ developments.
Attending and assisting in customer trials conversion methods vary from Injection Moulding, Film Extrusion, Blow Moulding, thermoforming, roto moulding etc.
Undertaking technical investigations and root cause analyses into customer complaints
Supporting report writing when required, and implementation of the corrective action.
Pigment Developments – this is not a key responsibility of your role but attending supplier meetings and learning this side of the business will be a longer term required function.
Supporting the team with technical training in production, laboratory, to the sales team and customers.
Long term, you will become a vital support to the technical team in CMR’s and formulation reviews as well as supporting the QA Manager with ISO systems & audits
Overseeing the delivery of cost-effective formulations
Providing technical support for existing products
Developing new products and providing input regarding the technical service and sales for new products

Salary range: R ----- – R 1 000 000 CTC p/a
