JOB SUMMARY:
Our client, a giant in the FMCG arena, currently seeks your transport experience to effectively plan, control, monitor and analyse an uninterrupted supply chain service to their customers whilst adhering to Best Operating Practices and Legislation.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Person:

Degree/Diploma in Logistics/Supply Chain/ Transport Management (mandatory).
Must have 3 to 5 yearsâ experience in Logistics/Retailing (FMCG).
Must have 3 to 5 years management experience, in a transport environment of a staff complement of at least 50 employees.
Experience in customer care management (mandatory).
Extensive knowledge of transport operating practices.
Intense knowledge of driver responsibilities towards managing and taking care of heavy-duty vehicles
Knowledge of relevant legislation, e.g. Road Traffic Act.

Competencies:

Thorough understanding of routing, driver management and fleet management.
Analytical mind, with good conflict management skills.
Team player and be able to work independently.
Self-motivated, assertive, and confident to take initiative.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Time management skills.
Flexible to travel to all distribution points.
Proven IR skills (mandatory).
Ability to build relationships with diverse groups of people.

The Job:

Ensure safe on time, cost efficient deliveries to outlets.
Manage Total Distribution Cost within budget.
Maintain and grow excellent relationship through analysis and effective resolution of concerns.
Upskill all Drivers through the Drivers Training Programme.
Manage internal customer relationships and provide effective leadership.
Manage logistics and route planning and monitor the execution thereof.
Manage operational performance using, among other tools, Winroute, DRM2, DriveRisk and Mix Telematics.
Manage workshop relationship, vehicle up-time, servicing, and compliance.
Ensure functional SLAs are in place with all service providers (Workshop, Assembly, etc.).
Staff performance management.
Ensure proper procedures and controls are in place within the Outbound department.
Ensure that high standard of housekeeping (Warehouse and Trucks) is maintained.
Plan, organise and measure resources to ensure that targets are met.
