Position summary:

The position of Unit Accountant is available at this boutique hotel, based in the southern suburbs of Cape Town. The position is a full time position, working on site. Employed by an independent accounting firm, the Unit Accountant works alongside the General Manager of the hotel and reports into the CEO and the finance team of the accounting team.  This skilled position is ideal for a candidate that is detailed orientated with a high ethical standard, an ability to grasp accounting concepts and a thorough understanding of the internal controls required to be in place.

Education and requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Two or four-year degree in accounting preferred.
• At least two years of General Ledger and high-volume accounting experience required
• Prior hotel/resort experience preferred
• Must have strong financial competence - hotel accountants should be able to analyse financial data, organize it, and present it in a clear and professional manner
• Must be able to perform in a highly confidential environment
• Must have strong computer skills
• Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel & Outlook
• Own, reliable transport essential

System knowledge:

• Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of excel
• Xero
• Opera
• MyMicros / Symphony / MyInventory (would be an advantage)
• Standard bank Business online
