POSITION INFO:

Our Client a Global Tech firm is seeking a Wintel Server Engineer to join their team in Durban on a contract basis. They Offer stability, competitive rates and a great working environment.

Description

Our client is looking for 2 x Wintel resources for 6-12 months.

Standby is required based on a weekly cycle, 1 in every 6 weeks.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Technology, Systems Engineering or related qualification.
Microsoft related infrastructure certification is compulsory: MCP; MCSA; MCITP
Additional certification in the following would be beneficial but not compulsory:
ITIL Foundation Certification
Years of experience: 4 to 6 years work experience.

Has knowledge and experience in:

Server-based networking, DNS, and TCP/IP
Management of Databases, Virtualization, and Cloud Technologies in a large Windows environment.
Managing MS Exchange users and mailboxes
Virtualization and management of platform Hyper-V, VMware or Nutanix
Scripting (PowerShell; VBScript; Java Scripting)
Good understanding of Antivirus tools like McAfee and Patch Methodologies and tools like WSUS and SCCM 2012 – 2016 would be an added benefit

CORE ACTIVITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Deliver timely, high-quality incident resolution focusing on root cause analysis and prevention.
Ensure the achievement of SLA targets for minimizing downtime in order to create a resilient Server Infrastructure.
Oversee the maintenance schedule and ensure that systems are fully patched and updated timeously.
Management and maintenance of all Server systems, Active Directory systems, Virtual Platforms, and cloud services in use across.
Improve Shared Services capabilities by:
Providing 3rd line support on all WINDOWS Server platforms
Backup management – support and manage backups on a day to day basis( Veeam, Symantec)
Analyzing incidents or requests and handling escalations of unresolved complex issues
Ensure that all Server systems meet the requirements for Disaster Recovery planning.
