SUMMARY:
Manage all workshop and locomotive maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective fleet availability, while driving productivity, compliance, and team performance

POSITION INFO:

⭐ Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage workshop team performance
• Plan and execute preventative & corrective maintenance
• Ensure high fleet availability (target ±90–95%)
• Manage locomotive rotation and downtime
• Drive workshop productivity and turnaround times
• Enforce safety and compliance standards
• Control spare parts, stock, and inventory
• Maintain accurate reporting and system updates
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives

🧠 Requirements

Qualifications:

• Diesel Electric Trade Certificate (essential)
• Mechanical Engineering qualification (advantageous)

Experience:

• 15 to 20 years in locomotive maintenance
• Strong diesel electric & hydraulic experience
• Proven workshop/maintenance leadership
• Hands-on fitter experience (diesel/mechanical)
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostics skills
• Experience with preventative maintenance systems
• Exposure to maintenance systems (e.g. ACAP or similar)
